Why people self-host PhotoPrism
PhotoPrism is a mature photo library for people who care about browsing, search, and long-term organization more than copying every Google Photos behavior. It works well against existing folders and can enrich large archives.
The tradeoff is that mobile backup usually needs a companion workflow. Index a copy of a representative album before pointing it at the full archive.
Deployment notes
PhotoPrism is listed with support signals for linux, docker. Check the upstream documentation before exposing it to the internet, review authentication defaults, and keep backups outside the primary host.
