Why people self-host Navidrome

Navidrome focuses on music rather than every media type. It is lightweight, fast on small servers, and compatible with many Subsonic clients, which makes it appealing for people who want a private Spotify-like collection.

The tradeoff is narrow scope: video, podcasts, and rich household media controls belong elsewhere. Keep tags clean, test mobile client sync, and back up the database alongside the audio files.
